Fine weather was enjoyed, and there was a large attendance. The sum of £5389 passed through the totalisator, as compared with £0343 on ' the first day of last winter. Thirteen bookmakers were on the ground, seven outside the enclosure at a fee of £lO, and six inside at £2O lOs. The following were tllfi results of the racing:— MoteO Hack Hurdle,?, 1£ miles—Forest 11.11 1, Lobecdo 9.9 2. The only other starters, Somali, Chicane, and Donxol. fell. Won in a canter by four lengths. Time, 3min 27 4-oscc.

Petano Hack, 7 furlongs.—Marathon 9.3 1. Guiding Step 10.5 2, Waipunui 9.11, 3. Also started : Waioriki, llohcpotao, led, and Mokai. Won by three lengths. Time, limn 34 3-ssec.

Stewards’ Stakes. 1 mile.—lranui 9.4 1. Woodhey 10.9 2, Illustrious 9.3 3. Also started: Uenuku, Loiret, Lamsdorff, and Hydraulic. Won by two lengths. Time, .Imin 48 3-ssce. Napier Steeplechase, about 3 miles. —Lingerer 9.8 1, Spcoiosa 11.4 2, El Dorado 9.12 3. Also started : Nadador 11.2, Coy 9.7, and Sylvia Maid 9.7. Lingerer led practically .all the way. and won by six lengths. Sylvia Maid fell at one of tho brush jumps. Time, Grain 48 3-ssec.

Ladies’ Bracelet, If miles.—Maku 11.9 1, Water o’ Milk 10.7 2, Sealer 11.3, 3. Also started: Waioriki, Colossus, Maimoe, and Pukeliou. Won hv ten lengths. No time taken. Ahurii’i Hurdles, miles. —Commander 10.0 1. Corazon 9.10 2. Somali 9.4 3. The only starters. ’Won by a long neelc. Time. 3min. 23 3-ssee.

Settlers’ Hack, 6 furlongs.—Mmidic 10.10 1, Timothy 9.2 2, Bereola 9.2 3. Also started: The Squatter, Miscast, Andrew Mack, Splashy My Darling, The Limit, Miss Tally, Cork, and Magneta. Won by a dozen lengths. Time, lmin 19 3-s.sec.
