A DANNEVIRKE BANKRUPT
CHARGED WITH BREACHES OF BANKRUPTCY ACT. [Per Press Association.! NAPIER, June 24. At tlie Supreme Court to-day, Jno. James Patterson, of Dannevirke, was indicted on the following charges of breaches of the Bankruptcy Act:—(l) That within three years of the date of his bankruptcy he failed to keep such books of account as to show properly and sufficiently his business transactions and financial position; (2) that he did not deliver to the Deputy Official Assignee having charge of the estate all books, documents, papers, and writings in his control relating, to his property and affairs; (3) that within two years of the commencement of his bankruptcy, he mutilated a certain book relating to . his affairs by removing certain pages from tne said book; (4)° that after the presentation of his bankruptcy petition he mutilated a certain book relating to his affairs. He pleaded not guilty. It appeared that he had practised as a solicitor, and had been interested in ■ a sawmi.l and a general store. The evidence for the prosecution had not concluded when the Court adjourned for the day.
