HOCKEY.
SHIELD MATCHES. The hockey competition matches were continued on No. 2 ground at the Victoria Domain yesterday afternoon, with the following results:— KIA KAHA (0) v. CIVIL SERVICE (0). This was not a very interesting game, neither team being at full strength. There was little attempt at any combination, but Civil Service showed considerably improved form. The game,; which resulted in a scoreless draw, was controlled by Mr. P. W. Bushnoll. Y.M.C.A. (4) v. WEST END (4). This was a really good game to watch, from start to finish. Some fine combination was shown, and in addition, several of the players were responsible for brilliant individual efforts. The goals for West End wore obtained by Pirie, McLachlan, and Davy (2); while for Y.M.C.A., Brown (3), and Pine, were responsible for the scores. Mr. Armstrong (City) was the referee.
