Mr Justice Edwards, in the course of a civil case at the Supreme Court at Auckland, commented sarcastically upon tho provisions of the consolidated statutes altering tho order of procedure. AVith reference to this he t’-*id that anyone knew what was law before the so-called consolidations, but nobody knew what was law now. AVhat were called “additions” must amount to a volume almost as big as the consolidated statutes themselves. A brilliant display of St. Elmo’s fire was observed on the masts of the R.AI.S. lonic, which arrived at AYellington. last week, when two days out- from Capetown, on her voyage from London. The strange light—-which is generally attributed to electrical disturbance—is said to have been particularly vivid and beautiful in the dark tempestuous night. Lieutenant J. A. Holland, R.N.R.., the second officer, who was on the bridge at the time, states that tlie .display lasted lor about twenty minutes. The light appears in halls and jet? on the tips of masts and yardarms during thunderstorms. It derives its name from the patron saint of sailors, * and occurs also on land, most frequently on mountain summits, where it is said to glow and hiss in brilliant tongues of white and blue light several inches in length. Headache, Indigestion, Constipation and Biliousness. o The immense number of orders, for Frootoids. sent by post direct to the Proprietor, is convincing proof that the Public appreciate their splendid curingpower over the above-named complaints. Frootoids are elegant in appearance and pleasant to take ; they arc immensely more valuable than an ordinary aperient: they remove from the blood, tissues, and internal organs, waste poisonous matter that is clogging them and choking the channels that lead to and from them. The beneficial effects of Frootoids arc evident by (.fie disappearance of headache, a bright, cheery sense of perfect health taking the place of sluggish, depressed feelings, by tlie liver acting properly, and by the food being properly digested. Frootoids are the proper aperient medicine to take when any Congestion or Blood Poison is present, or when Congestion of the Brain or Appoplexv is present or threatening. They havejieen tested, and have been proved to afford quick relief in such cases when other aperients have not done any good at all. Frootoids act splendidly on the liver; a dose taken at bed-time, once a week, is highly beneficial. A constipated habit of body will lie completely cured if the patient will on each occasion, when suffering, take a. dose of Frootoids, instead of an ordinary aperient. The patient thus gradually becomes independent of Aperient Medicines. - Price 1/0. Chemists,- Hedifcme Vendors, or AA 7 . G. Hearne & Co. Ltd., Geelong, Victoria.
