A. AND P. ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL REPORT. The annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Agricultural and Pastoral .Association will be he’d at the Farmers' Club rooms, at the comer of Read’s Quay and Lowe Street at 2 p.m.. today, when the annual election of officers will take place. Tile president (Air. T. Holden) will present the following report- upon the year’s work of the Association:—"The Association has had a successful financial year, as is evidenced by the.statement of accounts furnished* herewith.. The good services rendered by those gentlemen who acted as judges and stewards at the last show are recorded with appreciation, and the honorary auditors and treasurer are also entitled to the thanks of the Association. The generous assistance in augmenting the prize fund which lias been received from a large number of donors, has enabled many more prizes to be offered than could possibly have been awarded out of the revenue of the and it is apparent that a revision of entry fees must shortly be made. At present, in horses, sheep, and cattle, we are only receiving half fees, when compared with other Associations, and, in fact, only one-third of those charged in some of the larger shows. The number of exhibits .and members is still, on the increase, as is shown by the usual tabulated summary. The cattle section shows a falling off, principally in stud cattle, and it :e urged that those holding possible exhibits in these classes will, at our next show, make aii effort in the interests cf the district to make this section more worthy of it. After having acted as your president- for some years, I feel now called upon to -retire, and in doing so may' say that any little that I may have done to promote the interests of the Association has. on my part, been a lalior of love, and I take this opportunity of thanking those who have been associated with me from time to time for their loyal support and co-operation, and trust my.successor may be as loyally .hacked up as I have been. I shall continue to take ail interest in the welfare of the Association, and need hardly say shall lose no opportunity of furthering its interests when opportunities present themselves. The retiring members of the committee, Alessrs. Cameron, Fenwick, Smith, AYachsmann, and AYitters, being again nominated, they are duly elected accordingly. The statement of accounts discloses a balance to the capital account of £194 18s. The receipts amounted to £1570 6s Bd, and expenditure, including depreciation on building, etc., £l6ll 17s Gd, and the liabilities to £371 4s 6d.
