A good percentage of the banknotes issued never return from circulation. . The taxi-cab has been known in Christchurch for ■ some months, a livery stable having adopted this up-to-date means of supplying the needs of its patrons. Now the horseless vehicle is to come more prominently before -the public, an application having been mado to the City oouncil for a stand for three taxi-cabs, which will ply for biro in the city.
