The following is the Her. D. C. Bates’ general weather forecast: Easterly winds, freshening from strong to I gale, are probable north of East Cape and Kawhia. with heavy rain shortly. Light and variable winds will probably prevail elsewhere for about 18 hours, ' with fair weather, after which increasing northerlies are expected. The barometer will probably fall in the extreme north first and slowly elsewhere soon.
