A COMMISSION CLAIM. (Per Press Association NAPIER. July 3. Mr. Justice Chapman, at the Supremo Court- to-day, heard an appeal in tlie oaso of Parker and Johnston v. Dillon, claim for commission on the sale of defendant’s wool clip, in which case tlie Magistrate gave judgment for Dillon. Plaintiff was authorised to sell if be could get- a certain price, and ho claimed that the clip was subsequently sold to clients, introduced by him at tho price stated. Judgment was reserved. STORM AT NAPIER. NAPIER, July 4. An easterly storm with, a good deal of rain visited, Napier yesterday, but ended during last night. DROVERS AND SHEPHERDS’ DISPUTE.. About 180 farmers and other employers are being cited as parties to tho drovers’ and shepherds' dispute, which will 1 come before the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. Hally, on the 12th inst. UNEMPLOYED AT. NAPIER. A considerable number of men ? are out of work in Napier. The eorporation have many on the books awaiting employment, and at tlie nabor Bureau applications for work are becoming numerous. Applicants at. the charitable aid office for relief include a large proportion of new arrivals in the district. HASTINGS LOANS. HASTINGS,' July. 3. At a special meeting of tno Borough Council 1 it was resolved to ask the ratepayers’ sanction to the following, loans:—£4o,ooo to harness Tuki Tuki River to generate electric power for pumping water to reservoirs on Havelock Hills, and to supply electric light and jxnver to consumers; £30,000 for sewer extension, and £13,000 for footpaths and roads. INSURANCE ON BUILDINGS. PALMERSTON N. July 3. Tho insurance on Woodley’s four-teen-roomed residence, destroyed, by fire last evening, was £4OO in the Commercial Union, and oil the. contents £350 in the same office. Other, small insurances on the outbuildings .destroyed are not available. * A ROGUE AND A VAGABOND:. ' Sydney Hansen, alias George Morgan, was sentenced to three months’ hard labor on a charge of being a. rogue and a vagabond, and fraudently obtaining 9s from the relieving officer by falsely stating that lie had been given work by the Labor Bureau, and required assistance to reach the. job. DISEASED IMMIGRANTS. In regard t-o three passengers by the Morayshire' the Port health officer, after an examination of them, declined; to permit them to land unless friends or relations .guaranteed their- support.. Tubercular laryngitis, bone disease, and heart affection are stated as the spective ailments. i TROUT OVA. DUNEDIN, ..July 3. The Otago Acclimatisation Society issending 300,000 trout ova to Australia. Altogether the Society has received orders to the value of £3OO. Last- year the ova sent away realised £257.. The spawning is very successful. FOUND DEAD IN BED. DUNEDIN July.- .4On Thursday night, at Waitahuna, Elizabeth McCourtney, 81 years of age, died in bed, alongside her daughter.. She had not been medically attended, and was found dead in the morning.
