A thief disappeared after snatching from Goldschmidt, a French diamond merchant, in the Cafe 'Monico, Piccadilly, a "bag containing £IOO,OOO sterling worth of pearls and diamonds. A confederate tripped up pursuers of the. thief. It is believed the thieves shadowed Goldschmidt from Paris.
