In the course of the debate on the Budget .proposals, Mr Lloyd-George, Chancellor of the Exchequer, in response to appeals that were supported by some prominent Liberals, promised to make it clear that he did not intend to tax as increment any value due to good husbandry. In view of the forthcoming debate the War Office estimates for compulsory national training add £7,520,000 sterling to the existing territorial and special reserve vote. ■
