RIOTS BETWEEN STRIKERS AND NON-STRIKERS.

THE RIOT ACT READ. United Press Association— Copyright. OTTAWA, July 8. A section of workers employed by the Dominion Coal Company struck for a higher rate of pay. They, are membeis of the United Aline Workers, an American organisation. The remainder, belonging to the Provincial Workmen’s Association, did not strike. One, thousand strikers attacked the latter at Place Bay. The Riot Act was read. Fifteen hundred troops, with two machine guns, have been sent. The “Montreal Star” states that a powerful business corporation of the United States supports the members of the United Aline Workers’ Association.
