The Upper House of Convocation of the Province of Canterbury passed a resolution desiring the preservation and strengthening of the bond between Britain and Germany. The Bishop ofSalisbury said he thought that compulsory service .was necessary if wo were to keep., the peace with Germany, and that it would develop British manliness, discipline, and patriotism.
