VALUATION ROLLS

DILATORINESS OF THE DEPARTMENT.

(Per Press Association.) FEILDING, July 9. At the Borough Council meeting last night the Mayor stated that the Valuation Department was treating the Council to exasperating delay in supplying the valuation roll. Although the roll was promised weeks ago, it is not yet to hand, and the Council cannot get the rate notices out and the rates in. The Mayor said that it was all very well for Ministers to say that local bodies should assist the _ unemployed, but Feilding, while desirous of doing so, was prevented owing to the dilatoriness of the Valuation Department. Unless the roll 6oon came, the Council would -have to consider the question of reducing its permanent staff.
