A meeting of citizens is to be held at Masterton with a view to “promoting immediate action in the interests of strong democracy, bv organising a National League, and to provide funds to recompense Mr. A. \V. Hogg. M.P., for. the great sacrifice which he lias made in resigning the emoluments of office as a Minister of the Crown rather than sink his political principles.” It is proposed to limit subscriptions to one shilling, and to get the respective Labor organisations throughout New Zealand to open lists.
