The following is the Rev. D. C. Bates general weather forecast: A cyclonic area of moderate intensity is now passing over the North Island, bringing rain, and, elsewhere, cloudy and unsettled weather. Strong northerly winds probable north of East Cape and Ivawhia' south-easterly thence to Hokitika and Lyttelton, and westerly elsewhere, with a falling barometer everywhere.
