LABOR DAY.
PROPOSED PROCESSION AND SPORTS. At the East Coast Trades and Labor Council meeting on. Saturday night, the Secretary (Mr. J. H. Hall) stated that he had been interviewed by Mcsdames Townley and Scott re the Council assisting the Cook Uo'unty Women's Guild in their Maternity Home scheme as was done last year; He stated that it was the intention of the Guild to lay the foundation stone of the Maternitv Home on the morning of Labor Day, and the Guild wished the labor procession to attend thereat, and tc> devote the funds from a sports gathering to assist the Home. A letter was read from Mrs. Scott on the subject.
After some discussion, on the proposition of Mr. Nasmith, seconded by Mr. Harding, the following proposition was carried unanimously: “That this Council- hold on Labor Day a gigantic trades procession and sports, and that half the nett proceeds be handed over to the Cook County Women’s Guild to aid the Maternity Home.” The secretary was instructed to interview the secretary of the Women’s Guild and ascertain what arrangements had been made for celebrating Labor Day.
