SATURDAY, JULY 10. (Before Mr. W. A. Barton, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Two first offenders were convicted and fined os and 2s costs, or in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. For a second conviction within s'ix months, Edwin J. Norton was fined 10s and 2s costs, or 48 hours’ imprionment. PROHIBITION ORDER. A prohibition order was issued against a resident on the application of his son. ASSAULT. Madeline S. Kiwi {Mr. Kirk) proceeded against a Native named Rufta (Mr. Hei) on a charge of assault. . The case had been adjourned from the previous day in order to allow the defendant to obtain witnesses. liis chief witness, however, failed to put m an appearance, and after the evidence •of the plaintiff and Constable Pratt ■had been taken, Mr. Hei entered a plea of guilty on behalf of his client. After both counsel had briefly addressed the Court, His Worship" imposed al penalty of £l, with £1 13s costs, in default 7 days’ imprisonment.
