THE SCHOOL SYLLABUS.
That there are flairs in the primary school system goes without 6aying. All systems have flaws and will have untill the end of time, but the dominant weakness of the present syllabus, as lire, have indicated, is that it suits the trained teacher, and our teachers generally are not as well trained as they should be. There can be ho possible doubt that a teacher who has passed through the training college will do tetter work with such a syllabus than one who has only had the archaic experience of pupil teachorship, yet owing to the death of teachers the Board finds it impossible to insist upon attendance at the training college as a preliminary to an educational career. — ‘•New Zealand Herald.” 1
