Speaking to an “Auckland Star” representative regarding the position of the Native Health Department, the Hon. A. T. Ngata stated that it was intended to- once more place it under the control of the Native Department. About three years ago it had been decided to hand the control of this service to the Public Health Department from the Native Department, together with the sum of £3OOO from the natives’ civil list. The reorganisation of the Health Department had, said Mr. Ngata, necessitated reconsideration of the position of Native’health work, and Cabinet decided to transfer the latter once more to the Native Department to work in conjunction with the Maori Councils.
