Co.’s Tarawera, which is taking the Waikare’s running, will ho delayed in Wellington until to-day owing to her waiting to bring north passengers arriving by the s.s. Athcnic from London; she will therefore be late in reaching Gisborne. The Tuatea lias been timed to leave the wharf in the meantime at 7 p.m. to-morrow. The U.S.S. Co.’s Flora left Picton at 8 a.m. yesterday for Westport, and should arrive here on Friday, when she will sail for East Coast ports and Auckland. The Huddart-Parker Co.’s Wimmera arrives from Sydney and Auckland tomorrow' afternoon, and sails south in the evening The U.S.S. Co.’s Squall left Auckland yesterday for Tologa Bay and Gisborne with a general cargo. She will probably call in at Tokomaru Bay. The Canterbury S.S. Co.’s Ripple was to leave Oamaru yesterday, and will call at Timaru to-day and Lyttelton to-morrow, and should arrive here on Saturday morning ivith a car,go of produce. Messrs Richardson and Co.’s Rum arrived from Nsjpier early yesterdaj morning with a cargo of 13,000 ft of timber, 500 posts, and general merchandise. She returned to Napier at noon. The Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Company have been advised that the Maorihand Co.’s s.s. Rolmdale was to leave Grey mouth for Gisborne yesterday. The New Zealand Insurance Company, with which institution Mr. B. Russo had insured his scow Ron a, which urns wrecked in Palliser Bay a fev m'onths aso, has paid Mr. Russo- the sum o $ £lB6 as full settlement of claim. The scow was originally insured for £SOO with the above office for the salvaging expedition to the wreck of the ship Ben Avon, which resulted disastrously for tho sco-w. Certain stipulations to provide for the safe navigation of the scow were included in the conditions! of the policy, hut unfortunately for Mr. Russo it- subsequently transpired that, unknown to him, these conditions had not been fulfilled. The insurance company, however, made a liberal offer, Tvhicb was accepted by Mr. Russo. The sura of £25 has also been paid to Mr. Russo by the charterers as eomnensation for the loss of his vessel.
