TUESDAY, JULY 13. (Before Mr. W. A. Barton, S.M.) PItOCUBING LIQUOR. James Montague France (Mr. T. A. Coleman) pleaded guilty to a charge of obtaining liquor during the currency of a prohibition order. Mr. Coleman said the liquor was given the defendant by a friend, and he had it in his pocket when he was Bilking to a constable, and the. liquor, a small quantity, was scon. The man had not touched the drink, but certainly he should have thrown it away. The Bench, said tlxc accused had already been convicted and fined for a similar offence, but in this case another course would be adopted. Accused would be bound over in a surety of £lO to come up for sentence when called upon. • Henry Willoughby pleaded guilty to a charge of procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order. A fine of £5 with 2s costs, in default 80 days’ imprisonment was inflicted. DRUNKENNESS. A first offender who admitted being drfrnk on Monday was fined 5s with costs 2s) in default 24 hours’ imprisonment. A MAINTENANCE CASE. /: Samuel Dolman was proceeded against to provide maintenance for his two children who . are- inmates of the Sumner'Deaf and Dumb Institute. Mr. Kirk appeared for the accused and said that while the accused was £3l in arrears the sum of £9 had been paid. The accused was out of work, and was unable to find employment. The defendant followed the employment of an; asphalter, and work was much more plentiful in the summer, and if the case was adjourned the man would, be able to pay when lie got work. The, case was .adjourned for ono month, the defendant meanwhile to pay £2 10s.
