THE SCHOONER KAEO
A FAVORABLE REPORT.
■ The schooner Ivaco, which was beached fit Tokomaru Bay on Saturday last, is still in a most favorable position:, with, the sea going down rapidly, and as’ the wind altogether died away her safety is practically assured. Messrs Common, Shelton, and Co., the agents for tlie vessel, received'the following advice from Captain Skinner yesterday :“Thek vessel is in just tho same position. AVaiting for ggar. Tried to recover anchors tir-day. Sea- too heavy yet. Salved about half the cargo, and when ready will discharge the balance.”
The salvage and launching gear was being brought from Auckland by the U.S.S. Co.’s Squall, and is probably landed there by this time. The s.s. Victoria, due from Auckland this afternoon, brought an expert in launching vessels, who will be landed there this morning. .\ , , ~ It i« of course not known when the vessel will get off, hut with the necessary appliances and the present high spring- tides, it is not anticipated that the work of refloating her will be attended with a great amount of difficulty.'- . . , , : ~ , Captain Skinner wishes to , tiiaiiK Messrs Fairlie.
