WELLINGTON SYNOD.
RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 13The Anglican Synod yesterday resolved :“That this Synod desires to emphasise the-importance of the clergy and others giving commendatory letters to parishioners moving from one parish to another, and the loss which ensues to the church through the neglect of the -same.” It was also resolved: “That the’slight alteration 1 suggested by the General Synod Commission between boundaries of the dioceses ol Auckland and Wellington be -agreed to; tliat the Synod reserves for future consideration the bishop’s suggestion that ,i portion of the endowment of this diocese be handed over to the proposed new diocese if it be- formed : that this Synod considers the question of forming a fourth dioceso ..should be held over for a few years, to soo wliat effect the North Island Trunk railway will hav<) on the distribution of population.’- In explaining the position, the Rev., Mr Harper said that under the proposed rcarrati genients of the boun claries tlio population in the Auckland diocese would be 196,60 Q instead of 214,600, as .at present. The number in the diocese of Waiapu would be 60,J0U, as now; that in the Wellington diocese would be. 196,700, while the new diocese (which would probably bo klloWl { n ? that of Taranaki) would mcludo about 31,900 people.
