TAKE NOTICE that James Reed, of Masterton, Restaurant-keeper, claiming to have gone throught the ceremony of marriage -with you, the said Caroline Gibbins (or- Reed), has ■filed his petition against you in the Supreme Court at Wellington praying for a decree that the ceremony of marriage gone through between him and •you was null and void, and that be is not and never has been lawfully married to you wherein he alleges that prior to the said ceremony you had on or about the 27th day of April, 1875, validly married one John Gibbins at St. Peter’s Church, Akaroa, and that the said John Gibbins remained your lawful husband when you went through the ceremony of marriage with him the said James Reed. AND TAKE FURTHER. NOTICE that unless within twenty-eight days after and exclusive of the date of the last publication of this notice in the “Gisborne Times” and the “Poverty Bay Herald,” newspapers published at Gisborne, three advertisements of which in each of the said newspapers 6hall be in lieu of personal service on you of a copy of the writ of summons and petition sealed herein you attend at the office of this Court at Wellington and there enter an appearance in this cause and file your defence to the said petition this cause may be heard and determined in your absence notwithstanding.
