FATAL GELIGNITE EXPLOSION. (Per Press Association.) TAIHAPE, July 20. Word has pust been received here that Joseph Gibbson, J.P., a highlyrespected ironmonger at Itaetahiy was killed this morning by an explosion of gelignite. ACCIDENT ON THE RAILWAY. OAMARU, July 20. A painful accident happened to a radwav shunter, H. S. Hungerford. thismorning, on Holmes’ wharf. He was riding on the cow-catcher of the shunting engine, when by some means bis foot slipped, and he was dragged under the engine, sustaining a fracture of ’the left leg and a severe flesh wound on the right. Prompt application of the Westinghouse brake prevented a more distressing accident.
