The “Daily Mail” states that the 'first fortnight’s working of the eight hours’ system in the South Waies coal mines has astounded many. The re- #• duction in the output was 1318 per * 'cent., and, the actual loss. 700,000 tons ■• of coal in‘'jlcjuth ' Wales alone. The miners are inclined to support, a general strike on the ground that it will clear the air, and they will ask for similar support later. The recent peac* was only a patched up affair.
