GISBORNE OIL COMPANY.
DIRECTOR S’ MEETING
The directors of tho Gisborne Oil Company met yesterday morning,.when there were present, Messrs W. D. Lvsnar (chairman), T. Adair, W. F. JAnderson, and D. J. Barry. Mr. L. G. Saxby was appointed a director to watch operations at the well. The weekh- reports of the manager (Mr. McDonald) were considered, and showed that the 10in ' bore was down 36oft, and that at 350 ft a very strong vein of gas was struck. The ground recently passed through has been very difficult for boring operations, and the directors approved of the Chairman s action in ordering a further 10ft of lOin easing in order, if possible, to get through the difficult ground before altering the size of the bore as originally intended. It was. explained that owing to a delay in the delivery of the cable sent to Sydney ordering tlio pipe, the despatch of the pipes lias been retarded for ten days through missing the steamer, and had consequently caused a week’s delay at Gisborne. The directors expressed regret that the Government had withdrawn the geological survey party that had been working in the district, and the chairman’s action when at Wellington in interviewing the Acting-Premier on the subject was aproved of. It was decided to communicate with the Hon. Mr. Carroll, asking to have the party re-in-stated.
A quantity of routine business was also transacted.
