PROTESTS AGAINST CENTRALISATION.
(Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, July 22. Dr. Findlay told ilie Law Society, who protested against the centrab'.?jg|ta r tion proposal' in connection with Stamps and Deeds Department, that it had been represented to Sir Joseph Ward that A saving -of £II,OOO would be effected by the proposed change. It was a question for investigation whether that saving would' be outweighed by the expense and inconvenience to thepublic. He would report to the Cabinet straight away, and if the deputation’s representations were borne out, the proposed change would be a matter for early reconsideration.
