BOWLING.
GISBORNE CLUB.
There was a numerous gathering of members of the Gisborne Club, with a few visitors, on the Club’s green yesterday afternoon, and some interesting games were played. One match game took place, a. singles, in the President’s Cup series, to decide the winner of the second prize. The contestants were M. Craig and F. W. Pettie, and the former won by 25 points to 18 after a game mi which the scoring was decidedly erratic. At first the luck was all with Craig, who, on nine heads, made 16 points while his opponent only scored a couple of singles. On the tenth head Pettio got in three, and Craig replied on the eleventh by scoring with all four howls. An interchange of singles brought the score, on the fourteenth head, to 22 for Craig and 6 for Pettie. On the remaining seven heads Craig only scored once, getting three on the eighteenth, while Pettie ran up a dozen points, two singles, two twos, and two threes. It was a fine rally, but Craig had got too far ahead in the preceding heads, and won the game by seven points. Four practice rink games were played and resulted as follows:

Jeune, P. Hallam, M. G. Nasmith, junr., and W. 0. Skeet (secretary). . It was resolved to remove the boxthorn hedge from the east end of the recently-acquired section, and to erect immediately an Yon fence in its place. Discussion ensued on the necessity of extending the verandah of the paviiion, so as to enclose an afternoon tea room. The idea was approved of, and Messrs Skeet Bros, (who have the contract for removing the pavilion) were authorised to carry out the work, and also to erect all fencing required on the new green.
