IN BANKRUPTCY.
JOSEPH GURZINSKI. The following is the statement filed with the Deputy Official Assignee (Mr. J. Coleman) by Joseph Gurzinski, laborer, bankrupt: “In February, 1908, I started in business-as a restaurant keeper at the Willow Crossing. I was then solvent, and had a little capital. I bought and paid for all the articles required to commence such a business. My wife ran the restaurant, and I .worked on the railway works. The business, although not very profitable, was selfsupporting, find I was able to pay my way. On the 10th December, 1908, I let the restaurant, with the chattels therein, to one A. J. Nicholls, for a period of 12 weeks at a rental of £1 1 per week. This was the commencement of my troubles. Nicholls discontinued the business, and paid only a portion of the money due for rent, and still owes ’ £4 on this head. In addition, I found when I recovered possession that the premises were damaged, and most of the chattels used in connection wiv-: same.were either lost or damaged. I sued him in the Magistrate's Court, and obtained judgment for the sum of £32 6s 9d. I have not been able to recover amount 1 of the judgment. I was i.inable to replace the goods lost 1 and destroyed by Nicholls, and conse- > quently could not keep the restaurant going, and was compelled to sacrifice the goods that were saved. Having discontinued the business it became very difficult to collect outstanding accounts, and in addition to the amount due by Nicholls a sum of £<so or thereabouts is due to me. I attribute my bankruptcy to my losses as above-mentioned, and f am sure that but for the transaction with Nicholls I should have been able to pay all my creditors-in full. I have no offer to make.” Unsecured creditors are set down at "111 12s 6d.
