ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
MARINE FIREMAN SHOOTS HIMSELF.

A man named Robert Lawson, a steamboat fireman, who had been living ashore for about a month and who had been drinking, attempted to commit suicide on Saturday afternoon by shooting himself with a nistol. Some friends heard the report of the shot and found him bleeding fr-eely with a wound in the cheek. He was removed to the hospital. The bullet has not yet been extracted, but it is not expected that the wound will prove fatal.
