ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES.
WELL-KNOWN WET.LINGTONIAN CHARGED. (Per Press Association.'. WELLINGTON, July 27. Arthur . Cotlan Boranoff was charged at the Magistrate’s Court to-day that on July 17th, 1909, at Wellington, lie' did obtain of and from one Minnie • Moore a sum of £l,lls by means of false pretences, with intent to defraud. Accused, who is well known in Wellington as Dr. Boranoff, a self-styled Russian exile and political refugee, was arrested in Hastings same days ago, and" remanded from there' to Wellington. He has been in custody all ..the time. Mr. Hind marsh appeared on behalf of the accused, and applied for a remand until Monday' next, as lie wished to bring ' a witness from Featherston. Chief-Detective Brobcrg had no objection to a remands which was accoidigly granted. • On jYliv .HindinansH ft app'Jcation, bail was allowed in accused * own. recognisance of £lO, with one surety of £lO.
