The U.S.S. Co.’s Tarawera arrives from Auokland on Sunday afternoon, and continues her southern voyage durin<r the evening. I’he U.S.S. Co.’s Wanaka is due here with a cargo’ of produce about the 9t]h August. , . , The Tyser Co.’s Nerehana is hue about August 8 or 9, to complete her loading >at this port. The Gisborne Sheepfanners’ Frozen Meat Co. notify that the s.s. Holmdale Was to leave Grey mouth last night for Gisborne. Messrs Richardson and Co. s Kuru 5s due to-day from Napier with a general cargo. She returns again in the Evening. „ . . The s.s. Karoro, after being on the Slip for several days, is again in conilnission. , . , The turret steamer Walkure, which 5s at present at Wellington discharging her cargo from New York, brought a total of 149,743 cases and drums of 'kerosene nnd other oils. Details of tlie cargo are: —119,683 cases White Rose kerosene, 22,000 cases motor spirit 4000 eases benzine, 3500 cases naphtha, 400 cases crude oil, 160 drums or gasolene. . Work at the Tavinui is proceeding in the direction of constructing a temporary wooden rudder and laying down Ways for launching. The vessel will be towed to either Wellington or Dunedin where complete repairs and renovation will be effected. The cutting of the breakwater will shortly be taken in hand. A phenomenally strong set from the north has been noticed by shipmasters of small steamers in Cook Strait during the past week. Last week the steamer Aorere made the passage from ■p a tea to Wellington over an hour faster than usual. On tho run from Stephens Island to Wanganui on Tuesday the master of the Alexander observed a strong set from the north.
