INSANITARY BUILDINGS.

DEPUTATION TO HON. D. BUDDO

(Per Press Association.' DUNEDIN. July 30. A deputation representing the City Council waited on the Hon. D. Buddo to-day, and brought under his notice tlieir inability to effect the removal oi insanitary or unsafe premises. A number of eases had been tested in the Court, and the Council had lost them alt and had had to par the costs. The Hon. D. Buddo,. in reply, 'said it was proper that the owner of a condemned building should, have the right of appeal. On the general question or condemnation of buildings for purposes of sanitation there could be no difference of opinion, and he would bring the request under the notice ot the Attorney-General. It- was evidently the desire of the deputation jthat en owner’s appeal should be decided before the Council proceeded to act. < That would involve a technical alteration of the law, which, it' proposed, would require great consideration. The deputation also brought up the question of a clearing-house where the carcases of pigs could be inspected before going into consumption. The Minister said that without promising an amendment- of the Act, he would tee that .lie Health Department did the best it could in the matter.
