THE POLICE COMMISSION

SITTINGS AT CHRISTCHURCH.

(Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 31. The sittings of the Police Commission in this city were resumed tins morning, before M. H-. W. Bishop, S.M. Inspector Gillies complained of the discredit cast on the force I* ■ tlhe misdeeds of a few men. I feel, he -aid “so keenly the manner in which the force is held up, to public contumely that I would bo glad if to-morrow I reached the age of retirement. I have always loved the service, and I love it now, but I feel so disgusted that that is mv opinion. I have no hesitation in saying that there are many men in tho service who hold a similar opinion.

THE COMMISSION’S FUTURE MOVEMENTS.

Next Wednesday the Commission will sit at Greymouth, and it is expected, that one day will be sufficient in that town. The evidence of the polite stationed in other parts of ijho West Coast, Nelson, and Marlborough, will be taxen at Reef ton, Westport, Ne.son, and Blenheim. From the last nlace the Commission will go to the Wanganui district, then to Napier and district, •* and will finish in. the W ellington district.
