Inspector Gillies complained of the discredit cast on the force I* ■ tlhe misdeeds of a few men. I feel, he -aid “so keenly the manner in which the force is held up, to public contumely that I would bo glad if to-morrow I reached the age of retirement. I have always loved the service, and I love it now, but I feel so disgusted that that is mv opinion. I have no hesitation in saying that there are many men in tho service who hold a similar opinion.
