FOOTBALL.
POVERTY BAY RUGBY UNION. The usual weekly meeting of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union was held in the Masonic Hotel last evening. Present: Messrs J. S. Wauchop (chairman), J. A. Eaton, W. Johnston, H. Bright, and E. L. Maude (hon. sec.). Apologies for non-attendance were received from Messrs H. E. Maude and L. 0. Ingram. , On behalf of the High School dub, Mr. Gatland wrote asking for a donation from the early gate taken at the match last Saturday.—lt was resolved that the sum of £2 be granted. The secretary of the Mangatu SubUnion wrote expressing regret at being keep the fixture. against w'aiapu last Saturday.—Received. The'secretary of the Australian League •wrote accepting the terms offered by the Union for their using the ground for a game against Auckland. —ReceivAdditional players were passed for the Defence Cadets and Ivaiti-City Clubs. The selectors presented the team they had picked to play against Waiapu next Saturday. Mr. J. Bowman was appointed to captain the team. It was resolved that insets be put through the local press in connection with the Waiapu match next Saturday, and it was resolved that Is' admission be charged for everybody, ladies included. _ s'' The appointment of a manager for the representative touring team was held over until next meeting of the Union. It was resolved that Messrs Lyons, Parlane, and Tuteari be requested to select the country team to play against the Mangatu Sub-Union at the Domain on Thursday next. It was also decided that the usual club fixtures for that day be postponed. Several details in connection with the coming tour were discussed, and the meeting adjourned. WANGANUI v. TARANAKI. : Pick .associations WANGANUI, August 2. The following will represent Wanganui against Taranaki, at Wanganui, on Saturday next: —Full-back, Mueller j three-quarters,' Signal, Coe, Campion; five-eighths, Campion, McLeod; half, Dawe; forwards, Aitken, Ta Karangi, Dustin, Leahy, Milne, Bishop, Murray, Suiter. Emergencies, Slight, Russell, and Miller. DISGRACEFUL CONDUCT. DUNEDIN, August 2. At a meeting of the Otago Football Association.to-night, the referee in the - Rugby Union match, City v. Kaitangata, played at Kaitangata on Saturday, reported that the conduct of the spectators was disgraceful, and that but for the protection afforded by the City players and the vice-president of the Kaitangata Club he would have been subjected to personal violence. He also reported a spectator and a player for attempting to use personal violence. It was decided that the match bo replayed, and that the placer referred to be suspended until the end of 1912, that the spectator be warned off all grounds under the jurisdiction of the Association, and that the Kaitangata Club be asked to show reason why the ground should not be disqualified.
