Co.’s 'Hauroto, which, is replacing the Talune, arrives from 'Auckland this afternoon, and sails later in the evening for south. She will he tendered on arrival, and again with outward passengers at 7 p.m. The Hauroto will probably return again from Dunedin on August 14, instead of the Waikare. The U.S.S. Co.’s ITolmdale was expected to'arrive from Greymouth last night, but up tiil a late hour had not put in an appearance in the Bay. The Huddart-Parker Co.’s collier Moorabool completed her discharging operations last night, and sailed for Napier and Wellington. On discharge of her next cargo of coal from Westport the Kurow is to proceed to Dunedin and withdraw for survey. All that is left- of the Elginshire, which was wrecked off Kingsdown more than seventeen years ago, is gradually disappearing from view (says the “Timaru Herald”). At high tide now the seas break right over the wreck, and what decking and timber of any sort has managed to hold on for so long is being broken away by the sea and washed up on the beach. A very noticeable fact regarding the wreckage that) is coming ashore is the excellent condition of the paint and varnish of the woodwork. A piece of the cabin and fittings, probably of ceiling wood, was left at the “Herald” office on Saturday. It is painted white, and the paint •looks remarkably fresh after 17£ years’ exposure at Normanby. There have been some fairly stiff seas lately, as shown by the material settling down of the old boat. There is to be seen high and dry on the beach a solid iron awning for a ship’s stairway, weighing about two tens, or perhaps more, which must have, required considerable force to move. This has been occupied as a home by two penguins, who have taken up their quarters there.
