BETWEEN NATAL AND CAPE-
TOWN
(Jnitiod Pitkbs .Association —Copyright LONDON, August 2. .
A Dui'ban correspondent states that alarm is felt at the non-arrival at Capetown of the Lund Line now steamer Waratah, homeward bound from Sydney with 300 people aboard. The steamer left Port Natal on the 26th.
CRUISERS SENT IN SEARCH. THE STEAMER SUPPOSED TO HAVE BROKEN DOWN. (Received August 3, 9.55 p.m.) LONDON, August 3. The cruisers Forte and Pandora have left Simon’s Town and Durban respectively to search for the Waratah. It is probable that the machinery of the latter broke down in the recent heavy gales, and that the vessel has drifted southward. Mr. Harvey, accountant for Messrs A. Parnell and Co., of Gisborne, has relations on board the overdue steamer, his mother, his wife, and his son being among the passengers.
