VICTORIAN RACING CLUB’S PROFIT. United Press Association—ctopyhight MELBOURNE, August 3. The New Zealand horse Ataahua has so far recovered from the injuries lie received as to be able to start in tho Grand National Steeplechase Race. At the annual meeting of the Victoria Racing Club the profits for the year were shown to be £2313. The chairman stated that the recent attempt to introduce the Totalisator Bill showed that a majority of legislators were opposed to it. It was decided to wait for a more propitious opportunity.
AUCKLAND RACING CLUB. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 3. At the annual meeting of the Auckland Racing - Club, the chairman stated that they intended to increase the stakes by £4000; also to make a number of improvements on the course, principally in making new roads and on the people’s grandstand. C.J.C. SCRATCHING. CHRISTCHURCH, August 3. Stormont was scratched for all engagements at the Grand National meeting at 2.45 p.m. to-day.
