In the House of Representatives Mr Hughes moved the adjournment of the House to discuss the -Government’s action in failing to disclose the instructions to the Commonwealth representatives at tho Imperial Defence Conference. Air Deakin was badly heckled, but declined to bo drawn. He raised a storm by accusing the Opposition of persistently wasting time. A Bill to allow the Commonwealth to seize cables and wireless installations in time of war was introduced. Air L. E. Groom, Alinister of External Affairs, in moving the second reading of the Norfolk Island Bill, said the Islanders were a specially fine, courageous race. Under happier auspices they should give a better account of themselves. It was a Pacific cable station island, and for that reason alone it was desirable the territory should be controlled by tho Commonwealth.
