The “Times” Aladrid correspondent reports that the rising in Barcelona was organised with extraordinary secrecy and ability. A general strike was decreed on Friday, and commenced on Monday. Barcelona was .isolated by the evening. The strike movement in Aladrid was nipped in the bud by tho Government arresting Iglesias and other socialist leaders and closing the socialist headquarters. The great majority of strikers are honest workmen, who objected to the military expeditions.
The London “Times” Madrid correspondent had an interview with Senor Maura, Premier of Spain, in regard to the disturbance. Senor Maura stated that the Catalonian movement had ended on Saturday. Out of 900 communes there were only disturbances in 15. The Catalonian Brigade at Alelilla had fought extremely well. General Marina would soon be in a position to take the offensive.
