A BOY DROWNED. [Pun Press Association.] PALMERSTON N., August 4. A considerable- amount of water still remains in the outlying .parts of the district between heijc and box ton. whore train traffic is interrupted, and from Tokomaru to Koputarua, where the water is over the fences in parts of the flax swamps, and Makerua station is unapproachable. Heavy isoJalated showers fell to-day, but the rivers- arc still falling. . A tragedy arising out of the late rains occurred shortly after the Terrace End School dispersed to-day. A number of children went to a .gravel pit at the back of the school, winch the rains had filled with water, and two boys got in. James Dryland succeeded in getting out again, but Robert Edward Larsen, aged 8, was drowned-
