HOCKEY.
SHIELD COMPETITION. Only one game in the hockey competition' was played .yesterday afternoon at 'the Victoria Domain, the other games being postponed .owing to the disbanding of the Kia Kalia Club. The game played was between West End and Y.M.C.A., and after a good contest, the former team ran out the winners by 5 goals to I. The game
was much more even than the scores would indicate, and Y.M.C.A. had hard lines in not registering a bigger total. Morse (2), Nasmith, Davy, and Roderick scored , for WdSt End, Roderick’s goal being from a penalty bully. Brown notched Y.M.C.A.’s single score. For the winners Olsen, Roderick, MoLaelilan, Pine, and Morse played best, while Pine, Ellison, and Brown were most prominent for Y.M.C.A, ' Mr. Grenfell was the referee.
