A new use for Pakatoa Island was suggested in the Auckland Polico Court a few days ago. Mr W. E. Hackett, in the course of his defence of a youth, whom he described as a ‘ 'slave to the cigarette habit,” stating that the young man’s father had conferred with the Salvation' Army officials with a view to having him sent to Pakatoa for a term, in the hope of breaking him of his craving.
