• - ■ ■ THIS AIONTH’S ORDERS. The following orders have been issued by Captain O. Hellier Evans for the month of August:— Parades. —The squadron will parade, during August, as under: Mounted, at Gisborne (Garrison Hall), on. Saturday, 21st August, at 2.30 p.m. Dismounted, at Garrison Hall, on same day, at 7.30 p.m. Dress: Drill order. In the event of the mobilisation parade (mentioned in Order No. 6/09) being ordered prior to above date, the parades on 21st will be cancelled and the dismounted parade will be held in the evening after the mobilisation mounted parade. New members.—The election of all properly nominated applicants for enrolment will take place at dismounted squadron parade in August. r 4 Te Karaka range.—The new range at Te Karaka will be formally opened on Thursday, August 26th, at 2.30 p.m., and the Karaka troop invite members of other troops to be present. Uniform: Drill order. .Military sports—A schedule of events, with conditions is forwarded with this
order. The place whore the sports are I to bo held is not yet decided. It will be notified later. Tho O.C. hopes that every member wifi nniico it his business both to attend the sports, and . enter lor as many events as he can;. : further information regarding conditions, etc., can be had from the O.C. or officers. The object of the sports is not so much to make money as for the purpose of encouraging skill with arms, discipline, and general efficiency, fostering esprit do corps and to act as ah' incentive to the individual volunteer to improve the training of himself and ’ horse. The O.C. intends to do all lie can to ensure the success of the sports, and trusts that every member will give him full assistance. Rifle ranges. —Ale-miters are' notified that they are not to use the squadron’s rifle ranges unless an officer, or N.C.0., or leader of a “four” is present to conduct the practice. Such officer, N.C.O. or leader will be responsible that targets or property are not unduly damaged, and members, are not to tako dogs on to either range. Class firing.—lnstructions have been issued to the troop leaders that class firing is to bo proceeded with as soon as possible. Troop leaders will notify members of. their respective troops on what days they are to attend for class firing, and those failing to do the course laid clown will be fined.
