ADVANCES TO ROYAL FAMILY. COUNTERBALANCED BY ROYAL GRANTS TO THE TREASURY. United Pkehs Association —Copykigiit. (Received August 10, 11.10 p.m.) LISBON, August 10. A Portuguese Parliamentary Commission, appointed to investigate the subject, reports that grants by the Royal family to' the Treasury in time of urgent need counter-balance the advances from the Treasury to the Royal family.
' [The question of the advances to the Royal family has long been a burning one in Portugal. It has been strenuously contended that the Royal family was systematically robbing the nation. This is especially held by the Republican party, to which the murderers of. the late King and Crown Prince belonged.]
