THE MISSING WARATAH.
CABLE NEWS.
RETURN OFASEARCHING VESSEL NO TRACE FOUND. United Fiiess Association— Copyright. LONDON, August 10. H.M.S. Pandora has returned to Durban. No trace of the missing steamer Waratah was found.
The sighting of a Blue Anchor steamer has not been confirmed. It is noted that the wind was blowing shorewaTds, which discredits the theory that the Waratah was carried very far eastward. Lunds have ordered a steamer, which is just arriving at the Cape, to search for the Waratah.
H.M.S. Pandora’s search covered 250 square miles. The captain believes that if the Waratah is afloat she must be seen by H.M.S. Forte.
AN UNTRUE REPORT.
THE VESSEL NOT SIGHTED OFF DURBAN. (Received August 12, 1 a.m.) MELBOURNE, August 11. The agents of the Blue Anchor Lino have received a cable from the Natal agents stating that the supposed sighting of the Waratah is untrue.
