FIFTY CASES FOE HEARING

WAIROA, August 12. At the S.M. Court yesterday about 50 cases were set down for. hearing. For procuring liquor R. H. Hogan was fined '£lo and costs, and further informed that a breach might mean Pa-kat-oa Island. A Maori lad,' aged 19, adjudged the father of a male illegitimate child, born to a Mohaka halfcaste, was ordered to pay 7s 6d a week till the child was 14 years of age, also £5 costs, and £3 12s incidental expenses. In McGrath v. McGrath, wife’s petition for maintenance, an order to pay £1 per week was made. There were two school attendance cases. The offenders were fined small sums, and costs allowed in one. One juvenile offender, for theft of £3 13s, the property of F. Cave, was severely cautioned, after restoration had been made. The civil cases were, a! 1 ordinary in character. .
