Admiral Poore, in a speech at the Agricultural Show, appealed to employers to grant those who passed into the reserve 14 days for annual training. He regretted to say the attitude of employers was not satisfactory, and men trained for the navy declined to enter the naval reserve on taking up civil life, because they found a disinclination on the part of employers to allow the time necessary for training.
