OBJECTED TO BY RESTAURANT KEEPERS.

[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 12. Restauranteurs, who have been complaining that the counter lunch, the free concomitant of beer, in a certain four-penny bar has developed into a straightout meal, to* the detriment of the sixpenny, ninepennv, and shilling dining-rooms, brought’their grievance definitely before the committee of the Wellington licensed Victuallers’ Association. The chairman of the Association (Mr McPharland) said that its policy was “live and let live. It would not be wise to abolish the ancient custom of a mild counter lunch (linger pieces, such as biscuits, cheese, and various tit-bits), but the members as a whole did not countenance the free-meal idea. Subsequently tho committee interviewed the hotelkeeper mentioned, and ho agreed to modify his' bar provender in some respects.
